Interview With Our Participants

-How is the atmosphere here? Did you meet any new friends?

Right from the start TEDIMUN has been a tremendous experience. Every member here is very experienced and organised which makes for an amazing atmosphere. Of course I have met new friends, especially from the press because I am also a press member.

-Did you experience any stressful events?

There are not a lot of stressful events;  the only thing that has presented any real trouble for us is the internet connection. When we upload photos in the press room, the low connection makes downloading photos more tedious and time consuming than it has to be.

-What kind of responsibilities do you have in a day?

At the start of the day I’m usually in the committee rooms. I try to capture the atmosphere of the committees with my photos. After taking the photos I talk with my friends to choose the best photos for the media. It can get tiring by the end of the day but I love taking photos.

-How is the atmosphere here? Did you meet any new friends?

The atmosphere in the committees are really ecstatic, I feel like it’s a welcoming environment for everyone. The MUN community is a really supportive one, when I don’t know something, I can easily talk to anyone around me and have them explain non-judgmentally. I also love the socialising aspect of MUN, all the people I’ve met have been great.

-How was lobbying and resolution time? Did you have any difficulties?

They were especially difficult for me, but we overcame these difficulties together with my new friends. All the struggles end up being rewarding in the end anyways, as everything we ended up working perfectly in the end. Timing was another concern of ours but our resolution was completed in time, and we owe this to our helpful chairs who were there every step of the way.

-Are you excited for the social event?

Unfortunately I won’t be able to participate in the social event, however I am really excited for all my friends. As an eleventh grader my coursework is really heavy, and I feel disappointed that I’m missing out on such an experience. I wish everyone a fun social event.

  -How are the committees going?

They’re going very well, it’s so productive in those rooms. It’s my first conference so initially I was anxious, my chairs were such lifesavers in helping me overcome my nervousness. Now it’s going great and I love your school.

-How do you feel about TEDIMUN being your first conference?

I’m so glad my first experience is TEDIMUN, I think I’m going to carry the confidence I got here through the rest of my conferences. The executive team has worked really hard to make this conference a success and you can certainly tell. Everything’s so organised.

-What do you think about our opening video?

It was without a doubt one of the funniest videos I’ve ever watched, the music choice was excellent, I really enjoyed it, I was laughing out loud at some of the jokes.

ELÄ°F ZEYNEP KIBIÇ - GA1 DELEGATE

-What kind of responsibilities do you have?

I’m responsible for giving out cookies. In this conference we have a cookie table where people are free to take a cookie and send them to a person with a note attached. Our admins deliver the cookies by hand, there’s a lot of suspense involved especially when the note is anonymous.

-Are a lot of people interested in giving cookies?
Oh yeah, for sure. There’s a lot of demand and we’re all out of cookies. I’m having so much fun, I can’t read the notes but sometimes I have a pretty good idea of who’s sending a cookie to who, which is absolutely hilarious and entertaining. Don’t worry though, your secret is safe with me.

-Did you experience any stressful events?

There were lots of people just taking cookies and eating them by themselves. Not only was this kind of sad to see, we also had to constantly monitor the table, which made our job a lot harder. It also meant that some of the  people who wanted to cheer someone up by sending them a cookie could not, as we ran out of cookies.

MERVE ARAL - ADMÄ°N

   -How is your committee?

This was a committee I also chaired last year so I am familiar with most aspects of it. Most of the delegates we have are first timers, which is something I am quite happy about. I wish to be a good influence in their MUN careers and hopefully inspire them to continue their MUN journey. Mostly I love that I get to be a part of such a formative experience, I still remember my first MUN.

-How was the process of writing your chair reports?

It was quite a thorough process, It took me a week to finish them. I value my chair reports because delegates get their first impression of the topic from there. I like it but I know that it’s not for everyone.

   -How was the StOff dinner?

It was definitely a great dinner. I was grateful enough to be a part of a TEDIMUN conference last year, so this year one of the things I was looking forward to most was seeing my friends and spending time with the executive team again. The StOff dinner helped me do just that.
